Running plant training courses during a pandemic

plant training courses

As COVID restrictions begin to ease, and a sense of normality slowly resuming, we want to reach out to potential operators to book their plant training courses in. Unlike most companies, the construction sector was considered essential during late 2020. Although it is purely down to the individual companies, some are running courses online, and some are offering operators the chance to still learn on site. Find out how we are running courses and get booked in today!

WILL PLANT TRAINING COURSES STILL RUN DURING A PANDEMIC?

In short, plant training courses are now available to run. However it hasn’t always been the way forward.

When the first lockdown was announced, all companies that couldn’t work from home and were not considered as essential were forced to close. This was a great temporary solution to stop the spread of COVID-19 however it wasn’t a suitable long term solution. For those looking to get their foot in the door of the construction industry, they found themselves waiting around for businesses to get the go-ahead to open.

We had to close our doors to new operators until late 2020. Since then we have been thriving! We absolutely love training new individuals up, and those that need to renew these qualifications. So which courses are available to book?

WHAT COVID RESTRICTIONS ARE  IN PLACE?

The health and safety of our staff as well as our operators is at the forefront of our mind. We love to be able to still run courses in a safe, and socially distanced environment.

Currently, we have the following restrictions in place:

Social distancing

In all three of our classrooms we  have separated the desks to ensure they are at least 2m apart. Tape is also laid out on the floor to show the distance. Where social distancing is not possible, masks or face coverings must be worn.

Sanitising

All trainees will be requested to clean hands at the point of entry/exit to/from every room, on each occasion. All of our machines will also be sanitised after every use.

Large training area

Being based at Diggerland means we have a large open training space for all operators. If operators are not using machinery, but observing, social distancing can be adhered to easily.

One to one sessions

We are encouraging individuals to book one to one sessions instead. This will limit the amount of contact on site. If a group session is easier for companies, we will still run these but all the above restrictions will be in place.
