Health and Safety courses at Diggerland Plant Training School

health and safety courses

Do you find yourself needing qualifications in health and safety?

You’ve come to the right place. All of our health and safety courses are available to novices, as well as experienced individuals looking to just book onto a refresher course. We will also provide the necessary training, skills and knowledge for someone to work safely within a workplace.

Whether you work on a construction site, or within an office, we guarantee to have a course to suit your requirements. Find out about our NPORS training courses below.

On average there are around 61,000 non-fatal injuries to workers each year according to HSE. Imagine how many less there could be if more workers were given access to additional health and safety training?

The highest percentage of injuries occur when someone slips, trips or falls. 26% of workers in the construction industry, and 30% of employees in other industries suffer from a non-fatal injury of this sort, and it could be something that could be greatly reduced.

Lets not forget that the construction sector is the most dangerous industry to work in. There are an estimated 81,000 work-related health issues cases every year alone. This may not even include the everyday hazards including heavy plant equipment, uneven surfaces, and dealing with fatal gases and chemicals.

What are the benefits of ensuring the workplace is safe?

As well as it being the law to ensure the workplace is safe, here’s some more reasons why we recommend investing in extra health and safety courses for your staff:

  1. Research proves that workers are more productive during work hours when their company is committed to health and safety.
  2. By reducing the amount of incidents at work, this will reduce the amount of absences. In turn this will create a more efficient and productive work environment.
  3. A fantastic health and safety record will build trust for future employees and build your brand and reputation.
  4. The workplace will not be disrupted by illnesses, which could save your company money.

Here at the Diggerland Plant Training School we are industry experts and specialise in providing a wide variety of Health and Safety training courses.

There should be a minimal amount of employees that are first aid trained in all workplaces. To eliminate any accidents, we would strongly recommend providing at least the basic first aid knowledge for all employees.

If you’re looking for first aid training in Medway, or anywhere else in the UK, we have the perfect first aid courses for you. Our emergency first aid at work course can be completed in our training centre, as well as on your site. What’s more, it only takes one day to complete it!

Each year there are around 22,000 fires in various workplaces around the UK. That’s a staggering number of potential casualties!

It is a legal requirement to have fire wardens within a workplace, and the minimum number of trained individuals will depend on a number of factors. This can include how many staff there are, if the building has multiple floors, and the number of staff members that could be considered as high risk.

Our fire warden course is another quick one day course that could be coupled with the first aid training. It will provide individuals with knowledge on how to use a fire extinguisher safely, as well as information on carrying out an evacuation.

Our Working at Height course is something that is very relevant to the construction industry as well as utilities, and any jobs that are carried out above ground level.

Trainee operators can expect to cover the following:

  • Learning about the different types of PPE required
  • Understand the term competent person
  • Explain the measures that need to be followed in order to prevent any work related injuries or accidents

The NPORS N723 Harness and Fall Arrest course is another perfect course for anyone working in the construction industry. As it is a half day course, it is great when coupled up with Working at Height.

As mentioned previously, a large portion of work related accidents are caused by slips, trips and falls. Decrease the chances of injuries happening, when you book onto our harness and fall arrest course. Stay safe in the workplace!

You’ll have all the knowledge you require to work safely and effectively at a height.

Health and Safety is something that we all have to think about at the moment. During a pandemic, keeping our staff and trainee operators safe is key. We have all of the covid health and safety restrictions in place including:

  • Offering individual training sessions, or small groups
  • 2m distance in all of our classrooms
  • Face masks will need to be worn in indoor areas unless exempt
  • Hand sanitising is key
  • Temperature checks will be completed upon arrival
  • We advise anyone training to check in via the track and trace app

Do your bit to keep yourself and everyone around you safe!

Not only do we have experienced instructors on hand to train operators, we have a fantastic training area and classrooms. Being based at Diggerland UK theme park means we also have access to a variety of construction machinery.

We can also offer classroom hire to external companies for training purposes. From just £140 a day, you could have access to the best plant training school in Kent.

If you want to book onto any of our construction courses, we have a number of highly experienced instructors on hand to help. We are more than happy to discuss a particular course in detail if it’s something you’re interested in.
