What Do You Know About NPORS?

Forward tipping dumper training course

Here at the Diggerland Plant Training School we train our students to the standards required by NPORS to obtain their accreditation card. Who are they, where did they come from and why is an NPORS training certificate so respected? Read on for more.

Recent Beginnings

NPORS, or National Plant Operators Registration Scheme, only dates back to its inception in 1992. Some of us would say that this still makes them very young. Their formation came about due to a feeling that there was a bit of a status quo in the industry. Times were moving but the training remained the same. It was time for things to change.

Something that NPORS takes great pride in is that the training they provide is up-to-date, it is consistent and it is offered equally to anyone able to complete the course. Plant training had finally moved firmly towards the 21st century.

NPORS Training – A Great Reputation, Quickly Built

NPORS has built an industry leading reputation that many others only dream of. Although they have only been around for around 30 years, this is an organisation that has garnered respect from those in the know.

NPORS has become a favourite of employers to send workers for various reasons. Flexibility in plant training provisions means that NPORS training providers are allowed to come to you and train your staff on machines you are already using and are familiar with. The organisation has also built a reputation for quick provision of accreditation cards.Whereas with other well known training providers, who we won’t name, it will take days rather than weeks from completion of courses to get your card. Both of these points mean minimal disruption to your sites.

NPORS has been widely recognised by those who give accreditation to the training accreditors themselves. They have been recognised by the Construction Site Certification Scheme (CSCS), Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Build UK (an association of major UK construction contractors) and Civil Engineers Contractors Association (CECA) to name a few. This means that they are a name you can trust.
