Mental Well-being in Construction: Insights from The Diggerland Plant Training School

At the Diggerland Plant Training School, we take our environmental responsibility seriously, despite predominantly working with diesel-powered equipment. Here’s how we’re making a positive impact on the planet:

Solar Power

We’ve harnessed the power of the sun to fuel our operations. The entire Diggerland site, including the Training School, relies on solar energy as its primary source of electricity. PV solar panels, installed over a span of 5 years, now adorn the roofs of our buildings, providing an endless supply of sustainable energy.

Biomass and Ground Source Heat Pumps

We’ve gone beyond electricity and revolutionised our heating systems. Our head office employs biomass boilers, using wood chips and other sustainable resources for power. To further enhance heating efficiency, we’ve integrated ground source heat pumps into our infrastructure.

Waste Reduction

Sustainability is at the core of our operations. All resources and supplies used at the Diggerland Plant Training School are sourced sustainably whenever possible. Additionally, we diligently practise reusing and recycling to minimise our environmental footprint. We also encourage our clients to bring refillable water bottles to help reduce plastic waste.

Certified Instructors

The Diggerland Plant Training School is staffed by experienced and certified instructors who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. Their passion for teaching and commitment to safety ensure that students receive the highest quality education possible.

Environmentally-Friendly Company Cars

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our transportation choices. Our trainers are provided with electric vehicles, significantly reducing our impact on the environment. Moreover, these cars are charged on-site using solar power, further enhancing our commitment to green practices.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points

We believe in leading by example and encourage sustainable travel options for everyone visiting our Training School. To support this, we’ve got electric vehicle charging points installed in our car park, courtesy of EVision Electric Vehicles, available for use by our staff, clients, and other guests.

Embracing Digital Technology

In our efforts to minimise waste, we’ve transitioned to digital platforms, utilising computers and electronics instead of paper wherever possible. When printing is necessary, we opt for recycled paper to reduce our environmental impact.

By implementing these eco-conscious practices, the Diggerland Plant Training School is actively contributing to a more sustainable future. We believe that every small step towards environmental stewardship can lead to significant positive change. Join us in our commitment to a greener, more sustainable construction industry. Together, we can make a difference.
